De 1913 à 1916 et de 1918 à 1940, la ville fit partie de la Roumanie, qui avait annexé la Dobroudja du Sud au détriment de la Bulgarie, suite à la Seconde guerre balkanique. En 1940, par le Traité de Craiova, elle fut définitivement rendue à la Bulgarie. À l’époque de l’administration roumaine, Balcik, alors orthographiée Balcic, devint la principale résidence d’été de la reine Marie de Roumanie, qui s’y fit construire une villa en forme de mosquée turque, avec de grands jardins au-dessus de la mer, entre 1926 et 1937...
After the Second Balkan War, in 1913, the town, styled Balcic, became part of the Kingdom of Romania. It was regained by Bulgaria during World War I (1916–1919), but Romania restored its authority when hostilities in the region ceased. In 1940, just before the outbreak of World War II in the region, Balchik was ceded by Romania to Bulgaria by the terms of the Craiova Treaty. During Romania´s administration, the Balchik Palace was the favourite summer residence of Queen Marie of Romania and her immediate family...
